Former Vice President Joe Biden emerged victorious in the 2020 election, and is set to take presidency over a country that has been immersed as of late in social unrest and an economic crisis. While there has been consensus that under Biden’s administration, competition with China will be the organizing principle of the American foreign policy, it is still left to be seen what his term in office will mean for Pakistan and the strategic stability of the entire South Asia region. President-elect Biden has selected his nominee for Secretary of State as Antony John Blinken, who previously served in President Obama’s cabinet as the Deputy Secretary of State and was known to propose ‘interventionist’ policies. His role in Biden’s administration will be of much debate. In this context, the Islamabad Policy Research Institute is organizing an online guest lecture on 2 December, 2020 on ‘How will the Biden Administration have an Impact on the South Asian Security?’ The purpose of the webinar would be to foretell potential prospects and challenges of American foreign policy aspects under the Biden administration
