Policy Brief 07/03/2024
Pakistan’s engagement with Africa has historical roots and is characterized by mutual respect and cooperation. Despite policy initiatives like the “Look Africa Policy” and “Engage Africa Policy” aiming to enhance ties, trade volume between Pakistan and Africa remains below potential. Challenges include implementation hurdles and limited market information. To address these, Pakistan should focus on sectors of comparative advantage, increase cultural exchanges, and deepen understanding of African diversity. Recommendations include targeted investment promotion campaigns, establishment of a monitoring body, creation of a cultural forum, and structuring foreign affairs desks by African sub-regions. By harnessing mutual cooperation and addressing implementation gaps, Pakistan and Africa can unlock new economic opportunities and foster sustainable development.
